UPS to Close another Fort Smith Station

   R.H. Ghan Commercial Properties learned on Tuesday Feb.1 2011 that the U.S. Postal Service announced that on March 26 they will close the 3400 Rogers Ave. Station in Fort Smith.

Bank of the Ozarks Buys another Georgia Bank

     R.H. Ghan Commercial Properties congratulates The Little Rock-based bank, Bank of the Ozarks for recently purchasing another Georgia bank, Oglethorpe Bank. Oglethorpe Bank was closed Friday (Jan.14) by the Georgia Department of Banking and Finance with Bank of the Ozarks assuming all of the deposits from the bank and agreed to purchase essentially all of the assets from the FDIC.

Wal-Mart Closer to South African Market

 R.H. Ghan Commercial Properties has recently learned of Wal-Mart’s decision to expand in the South Africa Market. Bentonville-based Wal-Mart Stores Inc. first announced in September its intent to acquire a majority stake in Johannesburg, South Africa-based Massmart Holdings, a retailer with 290 stores in 12 countries. Wal-Mart bought out 51% of Massmart shares with 97% approval of its shareholders.

New Owners of the Fort Smith Pavilion

The Fort Smith Pavilion has been sold to the Ohio based real estate company, Phillips Edison & Co.  This 400,000-square-foot property on Phoenix Avenue at Interstate-540, was completed in 2008, making it the newest shopping center in our area. The Fort Smith Pavilion’s anchor tenant is Target, and other retailers include; Books-A- Million, Old Navy, Petco, and more. The shopping center also has 2 restaurants, Cheddars and Longhorn Steakhouse.

NEW WIND TURBINE MANUFACTURING PLANT BREAKS GROUND IN FORT SMITH

 R.H. Ghan Commercial Properties is excited to announce that 350 people attended the ground breaking for Mitsubishi Power Systems America, Inc.(MPSA), including: U.S. Senator Mark Pryor and Governor Mike Beebe. MPSA is building a $100 million wind turbine assembly plant on 90 acres at Chaffee Crossing near Fort Smith. R.H. Ghan Commercial Properties is one of the exclusive real estate brokers for Fort Chaffee, and is pleased that the 200,000 SF assembly plant will provide 400 new jobs for the Fort Smith area. MPSA plans for production to begin in the first quarter of 2012.

Fort Smith Tops List of Cheapest Cities to Live In

     R.H. Ghan Commercial Properties is excited to announce that Fort Smith was recently named the cheapest city to live in by Kiplinger.com. In a recent raking held by the website, Fort Smith came out first, or least expensive, among U.S. cities with metropolitan populations of 75,000 or more. The report is based on the ACCRA cost of living index and on medium household income and average home prices from Toronto-based Martin Prosperity Institute. According to the report, Fort Smith's latest cost-of-living index is 85.2.

Papa Murphy's Get's New Location!

     RH. Ghan Commercial Properties recently facilitated a transaction with Papa Murphy's to add a new location in Van Buren, AR. The new location will be at 2254 Fayetteville Rd. next to Verizon Wireless. This will be the second location for Papa Murphy's in the area. They already have a location on Zero St. in Fort Smith.

Gerber Plans to Expand Fort Smith Plant

     R.H. Ghan Commercial Properties would like to congratulate Gerber on their recently announced plans to expand their Fort Smith plant. Gerber officials will soon begin work on a $89.9 million expansion that will create up to 50 new jobs for the area. The company says the new expansion will be "the most significant expansion and re-design" of the plant since its opening in 1964. Construction will begin immediately and is projected to be completed by September of 2012.

Verizon Wireless Gets New Location in Van Buren

     R.H. Ghan Commercial Properties recently facilitated a transation with Verizon Wireless to open a new and more spacious location in Van Buren. They are now located at 2254 Fayetteville Rd. in an out parcel of the Wal-Mart Supercenter. Their new location features 5,525 square feet of space. Their hours of operation are Monday-Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.. Features of the store include software upgrading availability and the staff includes small business specialists. R.H. Ghan would like to congratulate Verizon Wireless on their new location.
